For those interested: the problem has to do with the new security measures in Vista. Microsoft disabled the ability of a Word add-on to write to the registry and so saving settings resulted in an error. These updated templates use a new method of saving settings. In addition to the legacy toolbars and menus -- available on the Add-ins tab -- BookWright and ScriptWright now have customized Ribbons. For instance:
If you are using Word 12 and install these updates, your main template will now be in the Word 12 template format. They will have the DOTX extension. ScriptWright.dot will be replaced with ScriptWright.dotx BookWright.dot will be replaced with BookWright.dotx Note: if you have previously created documents based on the older .DOT templates, you will have to manually re-attach the new template to the document.
